Luc Van Lierde still holds Ironman record 10 years later
History lesson: When Luc Van Lierde completed Ironman Europe he clocked a world record that still stands: 7:50:27. His 2.4m swim was 44:51, the 112m bike was 4:28:47, and 26.2m run was 2:36:49. While a 4:30 bike has been attained quite a few times since, the combination of a devastating 45 minute swim plus a 2:36 run is stupid fast. Stupid I tell you.
