Ironman Arizona Nine Days Away – last long swim

Well I slept in this morning instead of running easy, but that is ok. The taper is in full effect and I want to be well rested for Sunday April 13th. I swam after work for the last long set – 4,250 yards, right around Ironman length. I swam each 1,000 yards pretty evenly (with 1 tiny break at 2k to adjust goggles) and finished with a nice strong 250. I am pretty decent at sighting and wearing a wetsuit (still wearing my Orca TNT 2004 suit!) always makes you feel fast. I am hoping for a 1:08ish time for the 2.4 mile swim.Tomorrow will be the last decent bike ride, probably two hours on the Ironman Arizona Computrainer course.

T-9 Days till Ironman Arizona: AM = sleep. PM = 4,250 yards. 1:10:24.

    Good luck.

Update to my previous post about the run course. It is reversed, so if you want to break it up, still go with the 2 loop strategy, but then take it easy for the next 3.5 and do what you can for the last 5. Your training makes it look like “do what you can” is pretty darn good.

I’ll look for you coming through RSN (which I’m captaining).

Good luck #209. If you’re lucky, I might remember to call your name. :)
