Ironman Arizona Five days away

Well the race is almost here! The weather forecast just changed towards hot hot heat – accuweather is saying “hot, sizzling sunshine” with a high of 96. The interneto rumor mill is talking about a possible non-westuit swim which should be interesting. Wetsuits help quite a bit in keeping you more balanced and sliding in the water, but frankly the 2.4 mile swim does not bother me any more.  I have done enough 4,000 to 5,000 swim sets that if we show up race day and they say no Orca, Blue 70, QR, or 2XU for you I won’t freak out. Getting sun burned on the bike might prove to be a bigger challenge once on the run, but I have had my share of hot race experiences (though not recently obviously) so that also does not worry me that much. I think there is a stronger possibility of people not eating or drinking enough and falling apart by the time the run starts – which frankly is my favorite part.  Alright, well we are in the home stretch and I have everything almost packed.

T-5 Days till Ironman Arizona: PM swim – 1,500 with each 500 getting faster – 1st = 8:04, 2nd 7:59, 3rd 7:45. I will also do a 1.5 hour bike ride tonight and then pack up Cervancho for the trip to Arizona.
