62 days left to Ironman Arizona in cold Minneapolis

Alright well I’m over at my parents in law house and I will be shooting my latest video here pretty soon. I have decided on a small bike emphasis period before Chelle and I take off next Thursday on a little trip. At this point I bike for 2 hours on Friday, 2.25 on Saturday, 2:20 today, and am planning on 3 hours on Monday, 1.5 (intervals) on Tuesday before a church meeting, and then 2 hours on Wednesday. I am going over to the YMCA in about an hour to swim, which I will also do on Tuesday and Wednesday morning. I have been repeating the Ironman Arizona course on the Computrainer time and again and am getting a pretty good feel for it now. I probably won’t blog that much next week since we are pretty busy and then out of town. We are sitting here with about 60 days to go and I am feeling pretty good mentally and physically – I have yet to hit any burn-out and this trip we are going on will serve as some nice time away from the treadmill and trainer. I will then hit it pretty hard as we lead into Epic Week.  I am still sitting at around 176-77 pounds and I’d like to be closer to 171-2 by the time that I start tapering.  Apart from that my run speed has come back pretty decently and I am finding that I can hit it harder for longer even if my shorter intervals are not as “powerful” as last year – better way to say it is not yet.  Here is the Minneapolis winter advisory from last night, and no I am not doing my easy run outside tomorrow morning:

WIND CHILL WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 12 PM CST SUNDAY… WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY WILL EXPIRE AT MIDNIGHT CST TONIGHT… A WIND CHILL WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 12 PM CST SUNDAY. EXPECT WIND CHILL VALUES OF 35 TO 45 BELOW OVERNIGHT AND SUNDAY MORNING… WITH NORTHWEST WINDS OF 20 TO 30 MPH. LOW TEMPERATURES WILL REACH THE 10 TO 18 BELOW ZERO RANGE. A WIND CHILL WARNING MEANS THE COMBINATION OF VERY COLD AIR AND STRONG WINDS WILL CREATE DANGEROUSLY LOW WIND CHILL VALUES. THIS WILL RESULT IN FROST BITE AND LEAD TO HYPOTHERMIA OR DEATH IF PRECAUTIONS ARE NOT TAKEN.
